Wenzel Alpine 8 Feet Dome Light
I needed a sturdy inexpensive tent to camp in in the Nevada desert for over a week during Burning Man. This tent was perfect. It is a dome tent that held up to strong winds and sandstorms. Very well made. Very Easy setup using 3 poles and no need for directions. Strong zippers on door and windows. It came with a small gear loft "attic" that other tent companies sell as an accessory which was a nice touch. It fit me and a lot of my gear comfortably. Made for 3 but really would fit 2 with elbow room. Sturdy bottom with really no need for a ground tarp. A little to heavy for backpacking but ideal for any other kind of camping. It had an open mesh top that was not that large for ventilation which I had sewed up with white ripstop nylon to seal out the sand during sandstorms (recommended for the desert). Sealed up nicely vs the powdery fine sand. However, I did not encounter any rain with it. The rainfly just covered the mesh ventilation at the top of the tent. The seals worked great for sand but I am not sure how well it would it would be in a rainstorm, though my guess would be pretty good. I will be getting another one of these before they disappear!

BalasHapusMy husband and I have really enjoyed this tent. It is easy to set up and does exactly what it is supposed to do. It keeps out moisture and bugs. The size is perfect for two people sleeping on a full size air mattress and there is still some room on the sides for your belongings. We would highly recommend this tent to anyone...it is AWESOME!
BalasHapusI got this tent to go camping with my sister, but it eneded up sleeping 3 grown ups plus a dog. It was a bit tight. But overall it is a great tent to sleep 2 people. We had some crazy summer storms and it didn't leak a drop! The rain flap is really small and we were concerned about that squeezing in the tent while it was raining but it worked great. We were moving up and down the Adriatic coast, so we were taking it apart and putting it up all the time. It's very easy to do that, packs really small and it's light. Very satisfied with the purchase!
BalasHapusThis is a great tent! There's enough room for a couple of packs, full size airbed, two people and two small dogs. The set-up was a breeze (apx 10-15min) and the material is sturdy.
BalasHapusThe only negative thing I have to say about this is that the tent stakes were pretty flimsy. It's kind of expected as most tents come with the same standard flimsy tent stakes, so no points off from this reviewer.
Reviewed lots of tent options before purchasing this model by Wenzel. While there are many/most tents in this 3 person category that are much more expensive, this unit worked great for me and my 16 yr old son. First use was out west at grand canyon, south rim, glenn canyon/lake powell and then to zion national park for a few days. It takes about 10 minutes or less to set up, comes with the necessary accessories and as for quality, while I am not an expert, this tent really seemed to be of solid quality and workmanship. While you can purchase more expensive tent options, this one will do the job. BTW, Wenzel has been in the business for a long time and this influenced my purchase decision. As always, Amazon kills it on price, service and delivery!
BalasHapusI bought my first tent a bit over 2 years ago. Since then, I have used it numerous times. I have slept in this tent in six different states (NY, PA, MD, SC, FL, and TN) and at one point I lived in it for two weeks in a Tent City! It kept me nice and dry from the rain. On a date, I have pulled this tent out of my backpack and set it up on a beach, sending the girl into shock and awe. Because of this tent, I am known for my camping experience. It has served me well on numerous bike rides and other travels. I love my tent. So I might as well give it an official review :)
BalasHapusThis Tent is totally worth the price, wait better than the price!!! We got caught in a over night thunder storm with heavy heavy down pour not one leak or problem rolled over and slept through it like a baby!!!!!!!

I haven't camped for about 10 years, but I thought this tent was easy to set up and held up well during a rain storm. I am very happy with this purchase.
