I am a piano student, so this set was beneficial to me in that area, as well. I was exposed to music of three of the four eras, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic. This set gives some of the most famous works of some of the millenium's best composers. It's a good, basic introduction to classical music, and I would recommend it to any person who is just discovering the centuries-old magic of this genre. My collection of CDs grew rapidly after listening to this collection because my music appreciation grew. Now, three years later, I am very fond of classical music and own over fifty classical CDs. I'd like to think that this set is what sparked my interest.

Rockford Fosgate R1693 Full Range Speakers

I prefer paper woofers any time of the day. Paper woofers sound very natural and have a very nice mid range boom to them. Factory car speakers are ussually made out of paper, and they highlight mid range vocals very well. To those with less audio experience you won't notice the difference between paper woofers and mylar or poly woofer cones, but I can tell the different immedietely. I was worried about these speakers, since my dodge neon had paper cone speakers and paper tweeters that sounded amazing. However, the Dodge Neon speakers were paper and were ruined because of moisture. That is why paper doesn't work good for cone material with automotive use, since there is always moisture in a car.

These Rockford Fosgate 6" x 9"s have a slightly mechanical sound, as do all of the plastic cone woofers. There is less mid range, tight bass, and very high highs. I do miss the mid range sound, but with a little adjusting on an EQ, you can get the sound back. The only mark against these speakers is that they are slightly lacking in the mid range boom that is so noticeable with paper cone woofers. However, this is more of a personal preference thing, than a real blemish against these speakers. There is nothing bad to say about these speakers. They are as tough as any I've used. I can turn them up to maximum volume and the car sounds like it has a subwoofer in it, because these speakers have so much bass, and can handle so much power with ZERO distortion. It is amazing how tough these are. If you are looking for crisp sound, tight bass, and incredible highs, then these speakers will definitely do it. They do not have any distortion at even the highest listening levels, I've not been able to hear any audible bass distortion even with the bass turned up. Very well designed. I'm using them on my rear lid, below the rear window on my 4 door Dodge Neon. They don't have any enclosures, and yet they sound awesome with tight bass. Free air apparently works fine for these!

These are very loud speakers and overwhelm my front speakers with the extreme highs. I wouldn't recommend putting in these speakers on their own, without getting a matched set. The thing is, these have a very sharp tight sound, and that will not merge well with a soft natural sound of front factory speakers. The treble coming from these speakers is hard to miss, so I'd recommend a matched set, with front 6" round speakers for the doors, that way you have a matched sound coming from the front to back, and consequently, much better sound. I have 3 way front speakers, but they are not made by Rockford Fosgate, and the difference in sound between the front and back is slightly annoying to me. However, that's just me. It's a personal preference.

These speakers are built solid and can handle anything you can throw at them. Don't leave them in the sun, because that will ruin the foam surrounds.
Love these! Will probably buy another set of the 6" for the front of my car. I can't imagine finding anything that comes anywhere close to these for the price. Amazing.

These little babies are a godsend for audiophiles and music lovers who spend a lot of time in front of their computer. Full disclosure: I have been an audiophile for decades, and have invested a lot of money in high-end gear. But like many others, I find less and less free time to relax and listen to that system...probably because I spend too much time at a computer. If you fit that description, pick up a pair of AudioEngine 2's right now. You'll be rewarded with vastly better sound than what you probably have now, and you'll find yourself listening to music a lot more often. If you are currently relying on cheap plastic speakers, or worse yet, built in speakers, you probably don't even bother to listen to music when working on a computer. I rarely did.

Two-hundred bucks will seem like a lot to many people, but these speakers have the kind of build quality that will immediately let you know you got your money's worth. The cabinets are very solid, the inputs and binding posts are rugged, and the exposed drivers look great with the high gloss white finish. I am driving mine with a Cambridge Audio DACMagic digital-to-analog converter, which makes for a wonderful combination. I am rediscovering my iTunes library. (A DAC isn't required, of course, but I found computer-based music much more enjoyable since getting one.)

Allow them to break in for 20 or 30 hours before you pass judgement; like most speakers, they will improve with time. Most "computer speakers" have a pretty tinny midrange, which the manufacturer tries to cover up with a big mid-bass bump from a subwoofer. The AudioEngines, on the other hand, deliver a real midrange. They won't give you thundering bass notes or sparkling, extended highs....nothing at this price point will. But what you will get is an honest speaker that makes you want to listen to music.

Pioneer 2 DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver

I have the previous model (AVH-P8400BH) in my 2010 Camaro and purchased this unit (AVH-X8500BHS) for my wife's 2008 Saturn Vue. I am very familiar with the AVH-P8400BH and its features and that is why I selected this unit. I needed the dual-zone capability as we have an overhead DVD screen for the kids. The MIXTRAX on the AVH-P8400BH is terrible. Pioneer totally fixed the MIXTRAX on this unit. No more single audio effect - you can now select which transitions (there are 10 or 12 options now) you want. MIXTRAX also now includes a moving background starburst effect that changes with the music. It is absolutely fantastic and a feature worth having now. Also, the addition of the HDMI input (see pros and cons) is AWESOME!

Pros:
Dual-Zone (can play any source to A/V out, source can be different than front output)

HDMI input - if you know what you're doing, you can use any HDMI source and display on the front or rear outputs.

App Radio mode for Android - very nice - all you need is a micro-HDMI to HDMI cable and you're all set (must be supported by phone - see cons).

Cons:
HDMI input does not register touch screen controls on phone unless you are using app-mode. You can still display anything you want without the app-mode (like Netflix, youtube, etc), but you will need the phone in hand to make any changes, etc.

App-radio mode still needs some work. One drawback is that when you are using app-radio mode, your phone display will remain on. Therefore, if you do not have the phone plugged in to a charger, your phone will discharge quickly. My current phone (Droid Bionic) has separate HDMI and charging ports, so it works well for me.

App-mode for IOS devices requires additional equipment (beyond simple USB) to work properly with the unit.

Overall I am very happy with the Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS. It is a good double din DVD head unit and has an HDMI input!!! It has 3 sets of 4V pre-outs for adding amplifiers. If you are questioning if it really should cost this more than the AVH-X5500BHS, the answer is a resounding YES. HDMI, SD card, Dual Zone - the AVH-X5500BHS does not include these options.

Brilliant Album

Lyrical Catechism

I am completely blown away by this album. I know it just came out, but I feel like I completely slept on it, because I wasn't anticipating its release. It was hardly a blip on the radar. I knew that a few of my favorite artists, Timothy Brindle, Evangel and shai linne were going to be on there, so I knew I would probably check it out. BUT, when I first heard this I was blown away. this brother holds his own with some of the most respected lyrical theologians of our day. This album like the artists albums I previously mentioned will have your head bobbing while teaching you Biblical Theology and Church History. I could go on and on about how much I like this album, but think you would be better suited to listen for yourself. Benjamin, keep doing your thing brother. To God be the Glory!

Yamaha RX V773WA 7 2 Channel Receiver wireless

I had originally order a Onkyo receiver after using it for a few month I started having issues with the Hdmi outs I researched on web and saw that many people were having the same problems. I can't believe that the Onkyo company has not addressed these problems. Because of that I decided to return this unit. I would like to add that I was past my window of returning this without a penalty. I did chat with Amazon and they waived the penalty gave me Rma ticket to return this unit. Thank you Amazon for that I think that is good business and because they did that I made sure to purchase my next unit from them. I ordered a Yamaha Rx-V773Wa set it up quickly and it works great. The only issue I had is that when you do firmware upgrade. I attempted to use the upgrade threw the wireless internet connection but during the upgrade power to the wireless unit that is plugged into USB on the back of the receiver is shut down.I was able to correct the problem by downloading the firmware upgrade to my computer and putting it on a thumb drive and plugging into the receiver on the front USB port and that worked fine. The speaker set up with there mike and sound program works great the sound from this unit is powerful and crystal clear. The hdmi outputs work flawlessly I have one hdmi to main TV and the other to Epson projector. Good bye to Onkyo Hello Yamaha!!!

I love this Transmitter. it works perfectly for me. I have a Galaxy S2 and its fits with the case. I have no static that i can hear while playing my music. I love the fact that i can use phone thru car speakers. There is some feedback on the callers end. They can here their self talking. The charger port for my phone is awsome. It not only holds charge but quick charges phone so that while playinh music you still get a positive charge as apose to just holding the charge. It charges my phone better than the factory charger. I have only had it for a couple days so this review may be a lil premature. All in all i would recommend this to anyone looking for an FM transmitter or a function that it can provide as well as transmitting. This was a great purchase, The best $12 i ever spent.

Best sound system I've ever heard or owned

Onkyo CS 325 CD Receiver System

This is a truly marvelous little mini receiver. I originally bought this that came with a set of Bose Acoustimass 3 speakers (Sam's Club package), but have long upgraded and am now using a setup consisting of the CR-325, Polk PSW10 subwoofer, and two Definitive Technology Promonitor 800s as the bookshelf speakers. The controls are good and easy to use, but what really shines are the audio and amplification abilities. The amplification of signals are clear and distinct, and I always use the DIRECT function with my sources which completely bypass the receiver's DAC and EQ for a more pure and original sound. When paired with some excellent speakers such as the Promonitors, my music just comes alive and clear. It is powerful enough for my room even at ear-piercing volumes, just to show that sometimes high wattage specs are overated. If you do decide to upgrade to higher end bookshelfs, this mini receiver will be able to handle it as long as you keep the speaker impedance in check. For an even added bump in your music, you can also add a subwoofer which is a definite way to go to complete the lower frequencies that any bookshelf speakers are missing. I don't want to go excessively as to how the system "sounds" since it really is dependant on the speakers (but you can find how my setup sounds with this main component via the Promonitor800 speaker review here on Amazon).

Feature wise, the receiver has two inputs to connect your audio sources and other typical features of mini-hifi's such as CD player and FM/AM radio. I do not use the CD player so I can't really comment on it's performance. I however do exclusively use this receiver with an Apple Airport Express to stream 320kbps MP3's from iTunes and the sound with my setup is sublime. You can't go wrong with the included Onkyo bookshelf speakers from all the good reviews here, but if you do decide to upgrade the bookshelfs and add a subwoofer, you will definitely take this mini-receiver to another whole level of audio bliss.

KOKKIA Luxurious Transmitter authentication receivers

Bought this back in February for my iPod Classic and it works exactly as advertised. Pairing was easy and fast with both my Bluetooth headset and speakers (need to try it in my car next even though the factory radio has iPod controls). With my Bluetooth headset (a very old Motorola S805 circa 2007), I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to control the iPod from the headset as far as being able to pause music, track back and forth, and adjust volume. iPod battery life hasn't suffered noticeably and generally last longer than my Bluetooth speakers and about equal to my headset. Works great with either of the cases I have and is barely noticeable.

Well worth the price and has given new life to my iPod Classic after selling my iPhone 3GS last year and went to an Android phone. Yes I know I can load music on my Android but I like the ease of syncing with iTunes and having all my playlist there. Plus I like the ability to rate music and the Genius list I can create. Great product!

just a great musician

Chocolalala Mister G

Mister G's Chocolalala is great music for the WHOLE family. My Nicaraguan mother in law/nanny and my husband speak Spanish to our son (I only speak a little Spanish). We sing the songs and dance with him to this CD. The music is very catchy, original, bilingual music. Chocolalala bridges a variety of musical styles, and the songs are both educational and entertaining at the same time. Mister G has a stellar accent compared to other children's musicians who've made bilingual albums. Even if you don't speak a word of Spanish you'll love Chocolalala, and you're guaranteed to learn at least a few Spanish words. I find myself singing along to the music even when I'm in the car by myself. After listening for only 5 minutes I'll bet your family will be fans, too. There are two bilingual songs on Mister G's album Bugs.

My day job is planning family programs for a museum, and I've booked Mister G to perform several times. His live shows are awesome bilingual dance parties. The kids love his music whether they are English or Spanish speakers. Mister G is one of the performers that gets everyone out of their seats and dancing in the aisles.

We own three of these. My husband connects his ipod or touch while doing yard work. Better than trying to keep the radio signal in sync; freedom from having to plug in. I connect it to a digital recorder when playing back fiddle lessons. I've also used it to play music at my dance school. You can piggyback two and get more volume. I did this to play music for nursing home performances (a lot easier than lugging a boom box). [However, seniors don't hear so well, so we're back to the boom box!] In larger rooms, obviously, the sound isn't fabulous, but in a smaller room, it's great. Might be nice if it had its own volume control (you adjust this via the device you connect). Typically I have to set it just under full to avoid distortion. Have recommended these speakers to others who have loved them. True value for your $.

Rockford Fosgate T1572 Coaxial Speakers

I have a unique environment in my truck where the front doors take 6x9 speakers. I originally got a nice set of 6.5" component speakers with a 6x9 adapter plate for the doors and ran them off of 80w of clean power and was disappointed with the result. Because of my frustration I decided to give these a try because the price was low enough to take a chance. 6x9 speakers are not generally known for their sound quality but for their ability to fill in midbass and are usually located in the rear decks of cars. Because of this I was expecting them to be loud but not sound very good.

To my suprise they sound excellent. They have great midbass response in my front doors (not enclosed). You can feel the air movement against your legs when kick drums hits. This wasn't a suprise, though, because this can be expected from a decent 6x9. The pleasant suprise was how clear and loud they played. I have 80 watts of clean power going to these and vocals are clear and crisp. Top hats and snares are loud and accurate. I also like how they have the tweeter set up and I was able to point the tweeters more in my direction when mounting them giving me imaging that was more on axis.

I had never been a RF fan, but these speakers have changed my opinion. An excellent speaker with respectable SQ out of a 6x9 for a great price.

i bought these speakers to replace the ones in my Durabrand radio with really bad cheap speakers. the only thing i had to change was i had to modify the speaker box to fit the speakers but that cause it had a weight to make you think the stock speakers are better than they really are. other than that they are excellent speakers for $12.00 they come with the mounting screws and clips and sweet looking cover plates. the wire that comes with them is less that 22ga wire so if i where you i would buy some good speaker wire but the wire that came with them is alright if you don't want to buy speaker wire. all in all there really good for $12.00. the only other thing is the connections on the speaker are different sizes for positive and negative the + is the big one and the - is the small one the included wire has slide on connectors with un shrunk heat shrink tube.again they're really good speakers for the price definite buy!

Sometimes having too many choices is not necessarily a good thing. The iphone-case market is a vast and took awhile navigate. First you have your familiar electronic brands (e.g. Belkin, Case Logic, Targus). Next you have designer brands (e.g. Kate Spade, Coach, LV, etc.). After that you have all the 3rd party knock-offs that you can pickup from those kiosks at the mall.

I decided to look for something that was simple, solid and sleek from one of those familiar name brands (Belkin in this case). I wanted to avoid the cheapy cases, like the one my wife has outfitted on her phone. Her case has flimsy silicone parts that stretches and ends up flapping around. This belkin fits snugly with out any wiggle room. Construction feels solid and provides some decent protection against drops. It's slim shape and smooth/matte texture allows effortless retrieval from khaki pocket. At the same time it provides enough grip while being handled, without being tacky like silicone. The back face is translucent to show-off/market the trendy apple logo. Overall the design is simple with no frills, which is an elusive feature these days. Great product and worth the price.

Ok so here's the Bad. My 2001 Regal GS got broken into the 2nd week of me moving to TX. The Good (everything happens for a reason) is the fact that Jensen no longer makes the VM9512. So this was off the table for my insurance replacement. So I requested the Pioneer model after a quick Google search of Android compatible phones. I have to say there is a high learning curve to understanding how this device works. I gave the installer a 6ft HDMI cable as I planned to hook up my Galaxy S III with the bypass switch. The Galaxy S III is not on the list but it worked flawlessly. Needless to say this brings me to the Beautiful. Following the instructions and I downloaded the Pioneer AppRadio app. I'm thoroughly impressed how detailed and clear the videos are on screen. I was under the impression that the 1080p videos wouldn't play but I was wrong. The Galaxy S III works in two ways. One if you just want to view anything on the phone the MHL adapter will allow you to view whatever you want, however this requires you to manipulate everything from the phone.
The second option is using the apps for the phone and the radio. Star with downloading AppRadio to your Android device. You have to calibrate the phone to the radio by pressing white dots on the phone and the matching corresponding white dot on the screen. After about 5 or 6 dots you will be completely synced with the phone. Download the compatible apps on the list and link the bluetooth. Done. Everything worked well so well that I use my stylus on my screen. Love it, love it, love it. So now I highly recommend this to any one that has an Android device and wants to make their device the center of their mobile entertainment.

After Rooting my Galaxy S III I discovered an app called ARLiberator that totally allows you to use your AppRadio as it should have been from the start. It mirrors your phone and allows you to use the touch screen instead of your phone. So anything and everything on your phone is available to you on your radio. Go to youtube and look up AppRadio 2 Hacked.

A top notch case

Belkin F8W161ttC11 Grip Apple iPhone

This case is perfect. It provides great protection to the phone, while looking good and not adding too much bulk to the phone.

There is a nice lip on the edges of the front and back, to provide protection to the surface. The lip on the front provides enough room on the face of the screen to not get in the way of a screen protector, so no worries of it bubbling the protector or peeling it off.

The plastic on the case seems top quality. There are two different textures; the texture on the edges and back is smooth, shiny, and grippy (but not too grippy as to attract dirt), while the texture on the lips is a tad rougher, matte, but doesn't add any grip. The inside of the case is bumpy, to provide an even distribution of force over the phone when dropped.

The sleep and volume buttons work perfectly, and do not require too much force to use. They seem to be well attached to the case, and should not fall off.

The holes for the headphone jack and lightning cord are perfect. There is plenty of room for the lightning cord, and comes in and out with no interference of the case. The headphone jack hole fits the three sets of headphones I have, so I assume there will no no problem there for anyone else. If you do have a fat headphone plug, there is a possibility that it won't fit. The diameter of the hole in the case is 7 mm. Also, no problem for the camera hole and the ring/silent switch.

At first I had some issues getting the phone in and out of the case, but once I figured out the right way to do it, it's really easy. To put it in, you want to put the left edge of the phone in first, follow with the top right corner, then push along the right edge. To take it out, do the reverse process.

I have had no problems with this case, it works just as a case should!

It was surprisingly easy to pair my iPhone, and it found some clean radio frequencies to use with my Mazda 6's radio - and it does fine in the radio-heavy city of Boston. It took a couple of tries to find the best frequencies (very easy), but I've now found a few.

The device automatically pairs when I start the ignition. Then I just press the "play" button and it plays (mostly my audiobooks, but also music). The sound is clear and crisp.

It comes with an audio cable for more modern car radios (so it's bluetooth into the line input) and with a USB to mini-USB cable for charging the phone (I'll need to buy an Apple "lightning" USB cable for the iPhone 5. Not terrible, but would be a good option for the GOgroove (if Apple aren't holding exclusive rights to that).

I haven't yet tried the hands-free calling but expect it to be good.

I strongly recommend the GOgroove and will probably give it as a gift this season.

I bought these about 3 years ago to replace the K240M that I had. The K240M had several issues - its 600 ohms impedance, and the non-replaceable cable.

For some reason, my cats love AKG headphones and kept chewing the cord.
This K240s was a godsend . I bought them and 5 replacement cords. I'm down to the last one. I keep forgetting to pack them in my drawer after use.

I have hundreds of cables in my house between my computer, home theater, home recording studio, and my cats only chew these, for some reason.

Also, the sound quality is insanely great and accurate. I have been using these recently to monitor recordings . These are more revealing than any speakers ever will be. Last saturday I recorded a harpsichord. I had 2 pairs hooked up to the recording station, including these. The other was a Sony 700DJ heapdhone. The Sony's sounded really dead. Like something was off. Too much bass, not enough treble. There was no mistaking the accuracy of the playback of the AKG, since I was sitting right next to the instrument and performer. It was almost like the real thing.

I see that these have dropped quite a bit in price since I bought them. At this price I might just have to get a second pair.

Excellent multi-function radio/flashlight cell phone charger

Ambient Weather WR 333 Emergency Flashlight

Okay, I had never heard of Ambient Weather products, and I wasn't expecting much, especially after a couple bad experiences with a well known brand in dynamo radios. I was so pleasantly surprised with the superior build quality of the Ambient Weather WR-333 radio that I actually had to show it off to some friends and family. Yes, it is made of plastic, but this plastic doesn't feel all cheap and flimsy like competing brands; this radio feels much more solid, and doesn't creak, groan, and flex when cranking the dynamo.

The unit has an easy to read backlit LCD display, and a great digital tuner that locks on to frequencies with clarity where other brands would just give static. It's nice to see a dynamo radio that isn't deaf as a brick.

One of the really nice features on this model is the carabineer style clip instead of a tiny wrist strap. It is really nice to be able to clip this onto various gear without worrying about it slipping off.

The other features are really nice too. The flashlight is twice as bright and more focused than the other brand radio it replaced (that sold for the same price, no less). The solar panel is great, it helps prolong play time before needing recharged when used outdoors in moderate to bright light. The ability to charge it up via USB is incredibly handy too.

Finally, an emergency radio that is worth it's salt! It's nice to see a product like this that gives the consumer their money's worth for once. Well done Ambient Weather, and thank you so much for not only an outstanding product, but also for the opportunity to test and review it.

10 800 Watt SUBWOOFER MFW 10

I listen to a seriously eclectic range of music and this speaker ROCKS! I cannot attest to the quality of rap bass as I am not a fan. I was worried I was going to be one of THOSE people driving around with the loud BASS coming out of the car... well I was worried about nothing. I can turn it up as loud as SAFE to listen to with so much BASS that I can feel it in my chest and moves my hair around. I have a small car but am certain this would work in any vehicle. Make sure you take the time to tweak the settings to balance the speaker with your existing rig. I have a nice stock set of speakers but was lacking the sub frequencies... if you use a stock setup jsut turn the bass to less than the neutral or zero position and add the sub volume until it is balanced. I suggest you start with the volume as loud as you would ever listen to it paying attention to the clarity of the bass in your full range speakers. Once you hear distortion make sure you back off the bass on the head unit and add the SUB volumt until right. Remember a sub has a break-in period and some of these adjustments will have to be re-tweaked. Now to add the sound mat to the interiour regions that are rattling about...the dome light is especially troublesome. Enjoy!
